NEW PJ's

This weekend was spent making sleepwear. Madeline needed some new PJ's and wanted long legs while the shops all have summer short legs. Lucky for my stash of dress fabric I was able to put together some quick pants and embellished a $6 singlet from target. Now she is happy and I am inspired. So then I wanted new PJ's for my girls weekend next week. Back to the stash for some cute floral fabric and I whipped up another pair of pants. Then I added binding to a basic top and now I too have new jama's. What a productive day :-)

Me-Made-June '11

Tomorrow starts the beginning of June and the beginning of winter. I do like winter, it means I can stay inside and hybernate with my machine and stitching projects. This winter I would love to make some new pieces for the house, add a bit of red to the kitchen I think. Would also like to create a new wardrobe of coordinating pieces.  But lets start with June. Zoe from So Zo has set the challenge of Me-Made-June '11. I have signed up and made my pledge. Now lets see how I go fullfilling this pledge with calisthenic costumes coming out my ears. Good luck to me.

'I, Meagan from http://www.meagylove.blogspot.com/,  up as a participant of Me-Made-June '11. I endeavour to wear one self sewn garmet or accessory each second day for the duration of June 2011'
OH one other thing. Happy Birthday Brenton. We home you have an awesome day. Love Meagan

A Productive Weekend

It has been a wonderful weekend. I am so greatful that my girls can create games and entertainment for themselves while I madly work at my sewing table. On Saturday I completed Mr bumps body and legs, Charlotte looks so adorable. You will have to wait for the head to be compete before I show you a picture, sorry. Then I overlocked my way through the puppet shorts. Come Sunday afternoon all 7 puppet shorts are sewn together and have a waiste band, now to put in the elastic and attach the braces.
The rest of my Sunday was consumed with completing my Sew Weekly challenge - to embellish. I created a skirt using Simplicity pattern 2345 with some heavy cotton I had it my stash of bag fabrics. Then I did the Carolyn Sharkey textile technique and embellished a panel down the front. The skirt fits perfect and looks great. Just need a long sleeve top and then I can wear to work. Yeah.
Have an awesome week. Love Meagy.

Getting Started

Well, here goes, my first blog as a beginner who is daunted by the many options and techno words that are in all the settings. Today it rained and I had to work. I love wet rainy days to sit inside and sew. Currently I have 6 puppet pants to finish for Lotus Calisthenics, textile poppies to stitch on from a workshop with Carolyn Sharkey 2 weeks back and the 'Colette Ginger skirt' to commence when my pattern arrives. It is meant to be a sew-a-long with Sunni at a 'fashionable stitch' but I am at a road block with no pattern. Check out Sunni's website http://www.afashionablestitch.com/
